A dream comes true! With the Velo-Solex from Münsingen near Bern to the Eiffel Tower in Paris

It all started with a somewhat crazy idea: Thomas from Münsingen dreamed of traveling to Paris to the Eiffel Tower in a small group on his old Velosolex! He even found like-minded people: Ernst “Aschi” from Hettiswil and Monika and Hansueli from Bolligen. In a roundabout way, Katrin and Noldi from Rekingen in Aargau joined us, who had never sat on a Solex before!

My name is Rolf. At the “old” age of 72, I bought this old Solex. I drove something like this around 55 years ago, at the age of 14, without having to wear a helmet and without a test. So – there are a lot of old memories attached to it too.
Now I use the “Göppel” (coll. for an old and rattly bike or bicycle) for short distances. Not to forget, just for fun.

My name is Dédé, I'm 57 years old and I live on Lake Neuchâtel. In 1971 my grandfather, who lived near a gasworks in Solothurn, won a Solex 5000 in the cycling club's lottery.
As soon as my legs were long enough to stand on this Solex, he taught me how to ride it. As a ten-year-old boy, I was lucky enough to spend entire Sundays driving with him on the closed factory roads.

I'm Andy, forty-two, from the region of Solothurn. I've been working on motorcycles for over 30 years now. The Solex have always impressed me, so I finally bought one in the summer of '22, cheap and in poor condition. I had no idea either, but I'm enjoying it more and more and the ugly duckling has become a beautiful swan. Thomas has big plans! He has been thinking about taking a trip to Paris with his Velosolex for some time now. True to the motto: Why fast when slow can be so beautiful. The journey is scheduled to start in July/August 2023 and will take you to Paris in 9 stages of 50 - 70km each.
